About Sumi Earth Art

Hello all, after reading the 13 mistakes of blogging I realize how boring my blog has been. I apologize for making many of the beginning blogging mistakes mentioned. So onto the new year and more interesting blogging I hope.
I have devoted my time to developing a process I have named Sumi Earth Art. This process was born from my artistic background and a desire to create something new and unique. Developed by me this process has never been seen in this country before. Some disclaimers....I do not press my materials to paper thin tissue, preferring a drying method that leaves the material in a 3 dimensional form. I am not sumi-ee watercolor artist of pure form and my work is a fine craft not a fine art format. That being said, I do take great care in choosing my materials. Most of the flowers and leaves in my work I have grown and cultivated over the years, they are harvested at their peak or at bud stage. I am priviledged to own many pieces of 17th roof slate, the slate pieces in my works come from these antiquitated limestone slates, bark is collected as is birch skin and dried. All of the sanddollars you see in my fine craft work come from Plymouth's Long Beach and were collected from 1995- 2002. The finished works have an open, relaxing feel. The photos on Intuit  do not do my work justice and it is not the photos it is the site that lacks. The photos on my facebook fanpage are much clearer. facebook.com/sumiearthart ,I think. Search sumi earth art and  the page should  load. Hoe do you judge work when there is no comparison? good question...I recently was rejected by the judges at the guild..... reasoning not the art, the frame, a smudge, consistency. The consistency is my own and I am growing in my work. My work cannot be compared Sumi -ee or dried flower compositions it sits apart in its own niche waiting for you.
